Hey, we are still exploring the various time management
skills to enhance our productivity
- Organizational skills
“30% of working time
today is spent looking for misplaced items…” These are things lost because
they have not been ‘filed’ or kept correctly. However, the role of
filing/proper organization of things have been restricted to the office
setting. Imagine the amount of frustration one would avoid in looking for
misplaced information, materials or items if a proper filing and retrieval
system was put into consideration. Organizational skills is not an ‘office
thing’ but rather a necessity that cuts across all aspects of daily life, could
it be your kitchen, desktop computer, store wardrobe, etc.
- Increase your Productivity During your
Prime Time
“Organize your life so
as to engage in creative activities during your internal prime time.”
Internal prime time refers to the time of the day according to one’s body clock
during which one is most alert and productive. For most people, this time of
highest performance is in the morning after resting the whole night. For some
people, however, it’s in the evening. It’s therefore important to be aware of your
internal prime time when you function at your best so that you can schedule you
most important projects according to your increased productivity.
“Chunk, Block &
Tackle.”Often when faced with huge tasks, most people tend to freak out
given the level of expectations attached to these tasks. At times most of the
time is spend on non-essential/irrelevant tasks. It’s therefore important to
break down the projects into smaller manageable tasks and set time for each
specific task. This will not only allow you to avoid interruptions but also
enable you to tackle one task at a time.
Time happens to be the most valuable asset yet the most
ignored concern given the fact that, well, ‘tomorrow is yet another day.’ Since
time lost can never be recovered, we need to embark on proper management of the
little time we have so as to achieve the best from it.
Indeed, Time lost is never recovered. I think if we managed our time properly we can convert the wasted time into income generating activities.
